Children

Children encounter many emotional and developmental challenges as they grow and make sense of the world around them. Early experiences within the family, relationships with caregivers, friendships, bullying, low self-esteem, and pressures within school can all influence a child’s emotional development. When feelings become overwhelming or confusing, they may be expressed through behaviour, which can cause distress both to the child and wider family. These emotional struggles can also affect a child’s capacity to learn, concentrate, and engage fully in school life.

Individual psychotherapy offers children a safe and supportive space to explore their inner world. This is done through play, creative expression, and talking, which helps them make sense of their experiences and to understand how these may be shaping their feelings and behaviour. Attending regular sessions supports emotional growth, deepens self-understanding, relieves distress, and, over time, facilitates meaningful and lasting change.
